Congratulations! Our project is awarded by the Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) and Wind Energy Technologies Office (WETO) under the grid services program! Solar and Wind Grid Services and Reliability Demonstration Funding Program | Department of Energy

Dr. Lina He has taken the helm as the Team Lead Principal Investigator (Sole PI of UIC ECE) for a federal grant project, “Enabling 100% Renewable Energy Integration: Creativity-based Co-design and Demonstration of Intelligent Modeling, Protection, and Grid-edge Control of Bulk Power Systems (RENEWS).” The RENEWS project boasts a substantial total budget of $3 million in federal funding, complemented by an additional $1.1 million in cost share. This endeavor has brought together prominent partners, including GE, Siemens Industry, SEL, ComEd, AES, NREL, Eversource Energy, CAISO, ISO-New England, and S&C Electric. The team is dedicated to confronting the intricate challenges in modeling, protection, and control of bulk transmission systems with extensive solar and wind power integration. This project is a significant step toward a future powered by renewable energy, driven by creative solutions and transformative breakthroughs. He to help upgrade U.S. electrical grid.
